Advice for Your Child – Part Two

Advice for Your Child – Part Two

Back in late February, I wrote a TMC called “Advice for Your Child.” Because the response was so great, I reached out to a few other friends and asked if they had any “earth shattering and profound advice” that they have given their children. They all said they had some advice to pass along, but it was not earth shattering or profound. Anyway, here are another 13 takeaways.

  1. Don’t let a wishbone grow where your backbone should be.
  2. Try writing your own eulogy—and never stop revising!
  3. Experience the serenity of travelling alone.
  4. Vulnerability is OK and it is not anything to be ashamed of.
  5. Give credit. Take the blame.
  6. Write down your dreams.
  7. Be confident and humble at the same time.
  8. If you need music on the beach, you are missing the point!
  9. When shaking hands with someone, grip firmly and look them in the eye.
  10. Don’t enter the pool by the stairs.
  11. Hold your heroes to a higher standard.
  12. It’s not weak to speak!
  13. If ever in doubt, remember whose daughter or son you are and REFUSE to just be ordinary.

We figured that, if our kids could learn and practice these 13, and the original 13, they would do OK in life!

Please remember to stay HIMPS! (Healthy, Isolate when possible, Masked, Physically distanced, and Safe!).
