ATCO Gas Continues 25 Year Legacy of Alberta Games Support

ATCO Gas announced it would help fuel the 2013 Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games that took place in Barrhead and Westlock July 25-28 with a $50,000 sponsorship of the Opening Ceremonies and ATCO Gas Torch Relay.

“For 25 years, ATCO Gas has been a steadfast supporter of amateur sport, athletes and the Alberta Games,” says Bill Stephens, President, ATCO Gas. “We’re pleased to continue this tradition by sponsoring this year’s Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games, a program that showcases the talents and vitality of Alberta’s more experienced athletes.”

“ATCO Gas’s generous and ongoing support for the 2013 Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games provides a significant boost, which enables us to execute a first-class, multi-sport competition for our seasoned athletes,” says Gerry St. Pierre, Games Chair of the 2013 Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games.

ATCO Gas has sponsored the Alberta Games since 1988. A highlight of ATCO’s involvement has been the ATCO Gas Torch Relay and the ATCO Gas Cauldron opening each Games event. ATCO Gas’s sponsorship includes funding support, expertise and the provision of handheld torches and a custom built and engineered gas cauldron. Through the years, the natural gas cauldron has been the centerpiece for opening ceremonies at hundreds of amateur sporting events, including the Alberta Games, Western Canada Games and Arctic Winter Games.
