Meridian, Ontario’s largest credit union, recently announced a significant investment in the community of Barrie, Ontario with its proposal to acquire the naming rights to an outdoor city centre in the city’s downtown core.
Meridian’s proposal would see the credit union secure the naming rights for the city centre gathering space, which is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
“Meridian is delighted to announce this significant investment in the City of Barrie. We’re committed to building stronger communities and supporting economic development in the places where we operate and we’re thrilled to have such a great opportunity to do just that,” said Bill Maurin, Meridian’s president and CEO.
If approved by city council, Meridian will contribute $750,000 to the City of Barrie over 10 years and will secure the naming rights for 25 years.
