Rogers Secures Naming Rights for Edmonton’s New Arena

Edmonton’s new downtown arena and home of the Edmonton Oilers will be named Rogers Place.

Financial terms were not disclosed but Rogers executive vice-president John Boynton said it’s part of a four-year, $700-million investment in Alberta.  “Rogers Place is going to be one of the most technologically enabled stadiums in North America,” Boynton said.

Construction is scheduled to begin next year with the arena set to open its doors for the 2016 NHL season.

Last week Rogers announced a 12-year, $5.2-billion media rights agreement with the NHL, which gives Rogers national rights to all NHL games, on all of its platforms in all languages.
