Getting Recharged for Back to School and Work

Ugh… the summer is over. (OK, not officially until September 21 but in essence, it is.) Isn’t crazy how fast it goes by? And now there are no more “summer Fridays off” nor long weekend holidays. Now it is back to work (not like any of us in the sponsorship industry really gets any time off… it is 24-7-365 days a year in this industry). “Off season” used to deliver a lull… but even that is gone as great properties now can deliver 365 day exposure and value to sponsors even though their event might be a one day golf tournament, a sport season or performing arts season or such. It has all meshed into one long never-ending cycle. Lol… and that is why we love it… the drive, the excitement, the ideation, the creativity and the seeing the smile on the faces of your other two “stool legs” in the Trifecta of Sponsorship (check out last week’s TMC for those details…) when they and you all “win”!

And with kids heading back to school and work ramping up for what is Q4 for many organizations I thought I would ease back into the fall with a lighter approach to this week’s TMC. (Especially after last’s week heavy pontification.)  As my friend Jim Tobin keeps pointing out to me… here are some “dad jokes” … I like to refer to them in this case as insightful concepts and learning…here are some ‘back to school insights’:

  • There’s a fine line between a numerator and a denominator. Only a fraction of people will understand this.
  • Did you hear about the kidnapping at school? The teacher woke him up.
  • My math teacher called me average. How mean!
  • I only know 25 letters in the alphabet. I don’t know why.
  • The gym teacher had to cut Cinderella from the softball team… she kept running away from the ball.
  • Why is phonetic spelled with a ph?
  • I bought a book to teach me how to put two pieces of metal together. It was riveting.
  • A history degree is useless. There is no future in it.
  • I know every digit in Pi, I am just not sure of the order.

Have a great rest of this short work week and make sure you keep smiling. Pontification to resume next Tuesday!!
