Whether you have been in the sponsorship industry for over 34 years like me or you are a newbie, staying on top of new trends, insights, and information is critical for your success. There are lots of ways to stay on top of the industry. Here are a few that are top of mind.
- Become a member and attend industry membership group offerings such as the SMCC (Sponsorship Marketing Council of Canada) or AFP (Association of Fundraising Executives). Both offer member access to national/international events and learning opportunities, as well as local chapter events and experiences featuring everything from guest speaker or panel discussions (live and in-person) to online training and development.
- If you are in the municipal sector and managing sponsorship, you must register and attend the 2024 WSC® – Municipal Sponsorship Summit in Richmond Hill, Ontario February 28-29!
- Read online content through Google Alerts or LinkedIn. There is much content about what is happening in our industry—all at your fingertips. I share at least 3-4 stories every day on X and LinkedIn specifically about what is happening in our sector.
- Subscribe (if you have not already) to this free weekly editorial—The TMC© (Tuesday Morning Commentary). Each week, there is content about opportunities, professional development tips, or stories you need to hear!
