This week, Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) and the City of Saskatoon announced an additional $2.5 million in funding for the renovation and rejuvenation of Kinsmen Park, one of Saskatoon’s oldest park developments. These funds will augment the original $5 million commitment that the company previously announced, for total support of $7.5 million.
Bill Doyle, President and Chief Executive Officer of PotashCorp, outlined the company’s additional commitment to help renew the city’s oldest park.
“Our company believes in enhancing the long-term quality of life in our communities. We also believe in supporting projects and initiatives that reflect our goals and values. With an extensive children’s area, and summer and winter facilities, the rejuvenated Kinsmen Park will be central to Saskatoon’s quality of life,” said Doyle.
With the Kinsmen Park Master Plan, the City of Saskatoon aims to establish the park as a prominent civic activity space integrating activities on both sides of Spadina Crescent. Improvements to the area are focused on children’s activities and programming, and on creating an inclusive urban environment enjoyed by all ages and abilities year-round.
Saskatoon residents can look forward to Phase One of Kinsmen Park, including PotashCorp Playland, scheduled to open in spring 2015.
